Style Star Wars - Gaga, Christina, Rihanna - Give Peace a Chance!

June 22, 2010

The Cut

It seems that many fans of certain popstars have abandoned those old loves and turned into zombies, I mean monsters, of Lady Gaga. Also, to me, it seems that there are hardly any fans of sensational voice, Christina Aguilera, still around.

Has anyone publicly stood up for "Xtina"? It's said that the songstress copies lady Gaga, but what about Rihanna?

One could say Rihanna either copies Gaga as well or she just has similar styles (couldn't they all?). Rihanna's own stylist, Mariel Haenn, vowed that Christina copies the Barbados popstar, and not the Lady. Of course, as Rihanna's own stylist, she knows the styling well, but is likely biased.

I say it could all be coincidence. They're popstars and they all dress in a form, or an extreme, of popstar/rockstar garb.

Even "civilians" follow trends, and that means many could dress alike. Aren't the spikes, leather, booty shorts, etc. just a trend that they put to extremes?

So I plead, can't we all get along and follow musicians for talent or just that other old reason, some good beats?

Now with More Scribbles! Lady GaGa takes Birkin Graffiti from "Statement" to Gibberish

May 10, 2010

Lady GaGa, with her plainer hair that makes her look more like Sarah Michelle Gellar than artsy performer or freakshow, graffitied some more Japanese (and perhaps other scribbles) on her infamous Hermès Birkin bag.

Message coming in loud and clear? No. More fuzzy and more "eff" you than "love you". And we don't like to receive that!

Were there any taste in her original "artwork" - a simplistic message, it's all trash now and it has us needing to stuff our mouths with cookies to get the poor taste out of our mouths. What will save our eyes? We're almost angry, but it's just GaGa. What she does to fashion is harmless, for although she has amazing influence over die-hard fans, she doesn't hold much crossover power to normal fashion or accessorizing. Will Posh follow suit? Over her deathly-thin body, we think! By the way, is it difficult to read, like we imagine it might be? Does anyone have a new translation? Photo: The Superficial [NSFW site]

Lady GaGa's Graffitied Birkin Bag Wins her the Outrage she Craves

April 14, 2010

Lady GaGa in a Charles Youssef suit

Lady GaGa was just seen in an airport sporting long, plainer hair, a sneer, and looking generally roughed-up showing off her arm tattoo and ominous scratches. With quite hideous triangular-shaped pant legs (Charles Youssef), insanely high platform boots, and really cool/edgy Chanel gloves----she was, much more importantly, also boasting a white Birkin bag with Japanese lettering.

If you were to wonder whether or not Hermès sold the purse that way, or whether she butchered the most remarked symbol of fashion, the answer will likely upset you. Lady GaGa did graffiti the Japanese characters, and they actually match the writing on her arm. According to The UK's Daily Mail, it's a message to her fans, reading, "I love little monster, Tokyo love". My first reaction was fear for the poor purse, but I'm not shocked GaGa would make such a stunt. It's GaGa! She wants spectacle, and this is quite the way to get it. She wanted the attention she's getting from this scheme, and it is one, even more than she cares for fashion. So she defaced an iconic and beloved symbol worth roughly $4,600, also according to the Daily Mail -- if she were to auction it, it would be worth even more, if only to the fashionista/GaGa fangirl demographic. Even if not, this chick can afford it. The girl sure has balls, and those balls bought her that Birkin. I just wish I could get a piece of that fame's fortune. I'm also a bit saddened that GaGa cares not that she slapped her much poorer but fashion-loving fan sector in the face like this. Don't you kind of agree? Oh, I promise you Hermès, I'd baby my own Birkin!

But what do you think? OOAK IT or Trashed $h!t?

Lady Gaga + Linda Farrow Sunglass Designs = __ Photos of Indicative Styles

March 30, 2010

Lady GaGa is finally going beyond just Haus of Gaga for her videos, she's beginning her inevitable crossover into commercial design.

The Lady is reported (WWD, Sylecaster) to design one collection for the brand Linda Farrow, a British designer big in luxury eyewear which has made many acclaimed collaborations recently, including designing with Alexander Wang and others.

Websites are treating this news as a bit of a rumor, however WWD has itself reported it. The buzz broke last week while I was fighting a computer virus, and I cannot access wwd.com's take on the story anymore for proof of this new hype's credibility.

If only a rumor now, like I said fashion design, including shades to be sure, is no doubt not only inevitable but likely in Gaga's near future. She is the star partially known for huge somethings-anythings covering her eyes, while although her "fashion" is all-over crazy, eye "design" is one central element.

[caption id="attachment_2709" align="alignnone" width="400" caption="Gaga's famous crystal shades"][/caption]

I'm still left wondering when everything will get rolling and then when we'll get to see the goods! One other important wonder is about price range. Linda Farrow's "luxe" shade line is priced between $400 and $800, while most celebrity brands are priced for masses and youth. We know Lady Gaga is more haute and design-oriented than the Olsens and the like, but whether general pop music fans can even save to put on a piece of Gaga couture remains a major question.

For now let's just refresh our memories and soak in the views of some glasses styles Gaga seems to love - which when mind-mixed with Gaga's and Farrow's designs, might help us imagine what looks this collaboration could produce.

And that is the biggest ponderment; whether we even anticipate liking or wanting to spend on it, any fashion or music fan will want to see what will likely be art in Gaga's eyewear.

Entrepreneurs Take Note: "Gaga may now be the single most powerful editorial machine for fashion designers..."

December 10, 2009

Designers of possibly any level and fashion entrepreneurs alike, you might want to pay attention to Lady Gaga ... and what she may like. Because, well, the world is goo-goo-eyed for the Gaga.

First, Forbes magazine recognizes,

"Lady Gaga isn't the music industry's new Madonna. She's its new business model."

Lady Gaga, looking more "Lady" than Gaga-Crazy

June 02, 2009

It's not that I don't enjoy watching the "show itself" of Lady Gaga's out-there stage-and-life costumes, but here is the Lady looking more like an edgier (and blonde) Posh.

And she has a bag - what is it??

Enjoy!
