Coach Finally Does Their Take on an Affordable Birkin

August 09, 2008

With a flap fastened by their signature turn-lock, no key required or present, this bag is undeniably Coach-style, yet unmistakenly Hermès-inspired.

The Hamptons Leather Flap Tote
(in Coach's oft-literal naming style.)

I would totally buy one of these, but only if/when...

  1. I make more money again... paying rent + utilities now and times are tougher..

  2. They shorten the handles a bit.

  3. They do some punchier colors. Red or blue? Something still neutral and wearable.

Still I think this goes in the positive ranking for Coach.

..& Then Fendi Succeeds with that Crafty Look

April 17, 2008

Fendi Rainbow Clutch

Here is an adorable clutch by Fendi with that hand-crafty look, done very well this time. Every grey cloud must have a silver lining, or at least so when it comes to good designers. I like to refer to this bag as their Embellished Rainbow after the Storm Clutch. 3D and complete with beads, this funky purse is obviously very Big Name, and not to be found at your local craft fair, with its signature F buckle and $6,280 pricetag. Contact the company or your local boutique to purchase.

This is still not all from Fendi, as they're celebrating a very big month. Stay tuned.

Dooney & Bourke breeds new Zebra Totes in Funky Colors

February 01, 2008

I love my bold, large, yet apparently understated - compared to these - giraffe print Medium Sac. Now Dooney & Bourke has new Zebra-printed handbags in several over-the-top color schemes, for their new twisted-strap Sacs. With their slight metallic sheens, I do love the white/grey, as a large day to night, "I'm-fabu" bag. But if you still need a little more tameness in your already sassy animal prints, then the Twisted-Strap Sacs in the zebra line are still available in black/white!

Dooney & Bourke grey twisted-strap Medium Sac

The Medium Sac is sized 15.5" w x 12" h x 5" d; the Large Sac: 19" w x 14" h x 5" d. Despite equality in size and a snazzier design, the new sacs are actually lower in price from the basics, from $325 and $395 to $240 for medium and $260 for large.

And all that's "less" in this version is a thinner strap, as far as I can tell. So really, it's a win overall. A serious no-brainer. There's no sin in this temptation, why not make the kill and buy one of these wild steals.

Jay McCarrol may have won Project Runway, but he can't touch a Bag!

December 08, 2007

Garbage Bag of the Week:

Jay McCarroll - bowler bag
Jay McCarroll Bowler - Fred Flre $60

Is this how the winner of Project Runway makes a bag? See, this is what we get when the rules for the contest are as such; "the designers must sew" and "they must design women's-wear" instead of the important things, like talent in aesthetic design. I mean of course sewing is an important factor with how the competitions are run, and sticking to ladies' fashions keeps the show running more consistently, but with the popularity of purses, and the presence that handbag designers bring to the scene, where is the TV show for those aspiring to design bags?---Huh?!

Really, how does someone who won a major, famous contest for fashion design then make a bag that disregards color combination and basic knowledge of modern strap attachment? There is no talent in this cheap POS. Why make something for fabbing Fred Flare, wih fugging vinyl trim?! No respect for you, McCarroll.

You're out!

This is partly why I don't like the show.

New Luella Bag Destined for IT

February 11, 2007

Luella Fall 2007 bag

It's hard to find pictures of purses at Luella's Fall 2007 runway show, but I found one of my favorite via In My Bag. This bag in the family of Giselle, except with side belts instead of multiple full-width ones, is a new classic and one I'm really interested in. I can't wait for it to come out for the Fall (boo hoo), in a more affordable leather, of course, and then to hopefully go on sale. Of course, if my prediction is right, this bag will have IT status - or at least it should.

It's a bag with classy style for anyone in a tote shape with flap, lizard skin as on the runway, and what seem like two large tassels on front. Quite yummy.

Footnote: What is that which appears on this model's feet???
