Plaid Doctrine's Earth Day "Soft" Launch Debuts Fashion/Eco-Friendly Work Bags

April 23, 2010

Plaid Doctrine is the love child (more literal in the love, less in the child, perhaps) of a former Microsoft employee, Susanne Park.

She decided she'd rather fill a void in the work bag / laptop case / travel bag industry than, well, we guess be another drone in an office? As for that void-filling, she wanted style, green (eco) and ... plaid.

A long-butt time of hard work after this new journey began, and Plaid Doctrine has its soft launch ... today! I suspect no one is having a better Earth Day than Ms. Park, except for perhaps the trees if we're doing our job well!

How do these bags help save the Earth? Well don't go thinking these fabulous totes (and note the iPad case) are made of PU/pleather! Oh no, instead Susanne wanted vegetable-tanned leather, which is absolutely kinder to our Earth's skies than manufactured plastic. The fabrics (mostly plaids) are constructed from recycled bottles. Great news for all you soda and purified water fans.

The opening collection is a small preview of 4 pieces, and prices currently range from $79 to $479. Yes, we'll count spending your money on these as helping the environment, but don't forget to replenish the fabric supply and recycle!

*Update: 4/26/10* The first day their payment system was not working, but now you can finally place your orders! ;-)

Tote-ally Green to Market by Built

April 22, 2009

They're sleek, stylish, funky/fun, colorful yet tote-ally green all over. The Market totes by Built (r) are designed to beat plastic in more than just eco-reusing, they're insulated to hold in food's temperatures and are even patended with more patents pending.

However ranging from $20 to $40 from small to large, and with your entire grocery load, you might have to be a Whole Prices shopper already to afford these.

If not, they also make lunch totes and other food/drink towables for maybe picnics to enjoy the green scenery, to just get that neoprene insulation.

"Green" MacBook? Apple.com Leaves us Green with Envy

December 14, 2008

This new Mac Book looks great, mix the Mac Book green with pro and make it small (13" width, widescreen would be nice) and it could be my next computer.

It's a good thing the economy is the way it is though, because there is no mention of this machine on Apple.com whatsoever. Or any sign of it being purchasable in the near future. No "Froogle" or news jumps out at me. (And I'm demanding and require that for it to count as marketed.)

The worst thing is that Apple.com's search doesn't make any sense, they promote random movies when I search for what should be Apple products. Is this some lame iTunes tie-in? That's just what it is, lame.

Add a page for every product and/or ad you serve to TV Apple, god, I thought you were smarter than that!

At least(???) we can enjoy the above ad, but it's kind of like the fairy tale that is the rest of our hopes for bettering our planet. It's not like I don't trust Barack Obama, it's just that well, it's lame duck season, and unfortunately that doesn't mean hunting.

A foot note, kudos to YouTube for their new video embed. Not only does it work well with WordPress, but it matches almost any site, which is so tempting now that there are so many other embeddable video sites! I just wish the Google affiliation with it could fit into my layouts (sidebars) like these vids do my posts!! (However we can go straight to YouTube to get Google code for single videos or multiples, so although it won't fit most sidebars, it's a great step!) (Of course, getting revenue from embedding YouTube videos into posts is also huge incentive!)

Marc Jacobs and the Amazing Technicolor Python Stams

April 12, 2007

It looks like Marc Jacobs took a trip to Vegas when inspired by new Spring 2007 Python Patchwork Stams, and unfortunately what happened in Marc's imagination there, did not stay in Vegas. No the Python Patchwork Stam is now available for purchase via Saks Fifth Avenue (in blue, the tamest colour).

Marc Jacobs Python Stam - Blue

I should have warned you, this post's images are not for the faint of heart. The bags themselves are not for the faint of loyal Marc Jacobs heart, either---for this burst of tie-dyed snake skin costs $4,000.

More colours below, if you dare click on what look more like digital art images than photographs of real objects.

Bring on Spring with Prada's Straw Frame Bag

March 06, 2007

Prada Paglia and Vitello Daino Rings Frame BagSpring Break is here, with sandy beaches calling to us and actual sightings of green grass. A great travel handbag for your later winter getaway is this Prada Frame Bag. Natural straw with green leather trim, it's just enough Summer sand with greens of Spring for the upcoming weeks. Featuring a removable green leather luggage tag, it's good to go as your carry-on purse, as well!

13" x 9" x 5" this cute satchel costs $1,350. That's probably less than a trip to Disney World! So if you cut back on the fabulousness of your March break trip, perhaps you can afford this purse. Hey it will last a lot longer than a mere 7 days! (Two seasons, year after year!) Putting it that way, it almost seems like you need a new bag!
