Just wanted to introduce you to Style.com's Candy Pratts Price's fave accessories from the Fall shows, and their new pictures, descriptions and -- ah! -- official names.
Ah, the benefit of being an insider journalist. Well, at least we get their info when they give it.
Read it (well, view it) here on Style.com.
By the way, so far, I'm noticing at least one of the same handbags. (I've hardly begun looking, thanks to life and its foibles getting in the way.) It's a Dolce & Gabbana silver number.

Apparently, it's fur and feather PRINTED with a crocodile leather edge. And called --- "Miss Edge". Ah, a new thing, eh? fur print! Brava to the D and the G for something new!

Fresh from an "event" held by COACH (anyone got the scoop on that?), here is Mandy Moore, with new guy pal, and a fab Coach bag. Forget the guy, it's the bag that's interesting! I've never seen this exact style before, but I know what it is. It's the Coach Soho Large Satchel in alligator and it must be super, super limited edition and expensive. No, Coach just does not do croc-embossed!

Here is a close-up of Mandy's satchel next to a regular-leather version available now for $458 at www.coach.com.
Mandy was even seen at LAX Airport wearing gold Coach (see the turnlocks?) shoes (actually, shoe, since she'd injured her foot previously), but they're not the same ones she wore to the event. Hmm.

This tote is from Chanel's new Paris Biarritz collection for SS 2007. Wow!

If all my body fat were removed (please god) all my extra matter would easily fit in here.
My whole torso would fit in here.
Both of my legs would fit in here.
My paddington collection could fit in here.
A weekend's worth of clothing could fit in here.
You get the drill, but ...
It wouldn't fit in ...
On my lap,
Just barely on a car seat,
On a shelf or hook or in my closet.
Oh boy.

I suppose all Marc Jacobs' bags that we love, he thinks we've seen too much of. For Fall 2007, he's showing us all new styles, well only 2 of them. One is an old-fashioned (imho) flap shoulder bag with luxe skins, the other is actually a really cool oversized clutch (also with skins [ostrich pictured], also with flap).
The first is so blah - Marcy, don't expect that to go IT. Public/mag eds, don't
let that go IT!
But that clutch is pretty neat. I imagine it's perfect to hold papers in the business world, and will be tucked inside a Birkin business bag! Ah, the dream.
A handbag though? Well, I think it'd be too clumsy to carry around. Not the dream.

When I posted about a similar Gucci Scarf "Positano" Tote, I was told by a commenter that another was much more expensive. The first was straw, the second---crocodile. The price of the crocodile tote? $19,800.
Nearly $20,000! Actually it's nearly $21,000 with tax!!!
Oiiiiiiiiiiiii.
It's lovely, but I don't need it. I do, however, need a new car. A nice hybrid would be an option with that amount of money. Oi.
Bringing back so much of a more recently blooming brand, is the Legacy Ali bag by Coach. The style shape is very vintage right from Coach's archives, and it's lined in a fabric inspired by their vintage stripe from the Bonnie Cashin days. Add in the modern details that make today's legacy, and we have an iconic piece from Coach. It's great in aged whiskey leather, but nothing makes an IT bag or a bag of the year like a true reptile skin leather.
Available only in select upscale stores or by catalog, and not even online, was the Ali in Alligator. Is it long sold out? Probably, but the $12,000 pricetag could be a clue either way. Did the rich buy into this bag? Hmm.. For sure though, Coach fans can only admire this bag of art, but how much they have makes it worthwhile.
For Coach's 65th anniversary, their entry into our top bags of 2006 is the Ali in Alligator. Certainly worthy of being a bag of the year, from such an upgrade from a favorite brand of so many. Here's a New Years toast to Coach, may you only grow stronger in your next 65!
