Stylish with Substance

A woman should be two things; classy & fabulous - Mlle Gabrielle Chanel

Thing that makes me go, "Hmm ... GET ON MAH FEETS NOW!"

Manolo Blahnik tweed lasti

Manolo Blahnik Tweed Boucle d'Orsay

$715.00 by Manolo Blahnik at Neiman Marcus

Bouclé, d'Orsay, big name ... and metallic threads?! Seriously, I'm going crazy for these. I would sell both my little toes to get these, if need be. That might even make wearing them a better experience, seeing as they're notorious Manolo Blahniks. Since I might greatly benefit in pain relief in general from that "sacrifice", you need know that I would do many other things, as well; in ways from smart and moral to DOS-attacking NM.com so they don't sell out.

They simply mustn't sell out before I get my beloved pair. That is why I must act fast, use all my resources and why I say "get these on mah feets NOW" - it's a rare thing I cry!

Sex and the City Review,Late for the Rent Bloomers

September 27, 2008

Now with extra special lateness so I could capture the perfect movie photo using Windows!!!
I had to research until I found a setting to disable, or no video caps!
(Look at that Cinderella pic, so worth it. Or else shoot me now - what do you want? I'm a perfectionist. Rare in bloggers, and it's obvious why. Still please enjoy! *Jedi*)

No, I'm not the perfect demographic for Sex and the City. I have nary a female friend, I live in Florida in a town-like city---even though I dream of working in fashion---yes I don't even like NYC that much. I hate the cold, I'm a Red Sox fan, but most of all I actually love my bags too much to risk their snatching. Call me scaredy-girly-girl. But hey I have no film crew to protect me, or the money and power of Samantha and Miranda, after all. And heck--I couldn't even make anyone I know near where I live to see the film in theatres ... but I do love fabulous things, and I just couldn't wait to rent Sex and the City. In so moi style, a fashionably late (even for a rental) writer's review:

I did grab a hold of the flick early, but on that Monday morning, after being reminded Heroes would premier that night, I was all too excited with my hands on the flick. I threw it on, but could barely stand to last the label-gasms the opening gave me. For my own sanity, I turned it off for a time.

It is a long movie. But that's one big thing a girl wants from her sex, you know. Still this means make sure you don't have to sneak away from the screen when it's half over ... once the Big dramatic wedding day starts (a hint is that it's early on) you'll soon know you cannot tear yourself away until the cuddling after it's over. (I do suggest watching this emotional movie with your beloved or dearest friends - all of age of course - and tissues and some sore eye products. Suggested 1, Suggested 2)

It was for the fashionista, for the writer, for the Cinderella-dreamer ... it was so for me.

But was the end as satisfying as the best of sex? A girl shouldn't kiss (and cry) and tell.

But I'll gladly gossip about some of the juiciest and eye-candiest goodies!!!

To start, like any worth-while late-as-DVD review, the Bonus Features...

*Note: a change in info on what was released delayed this post, also.*

For most bonus features, it seems you need to buy the "Special Edition" (or Blu-Ray).

Disc 1: Audio Commentary By director Michael Patrick King
Disc 2: Additional Scenes; A Conversation With Sarah Jessica Parker And Michael Patrick King; The Fabulous Fashion Of Sex And The City; Fergie in the Studio: The Singer recording Labels Or Love For The Soundtrack

Where to next? The clothes, or the undressed?

Since this is a female-oriented blog, maybe I should start with the style ... besides, it's saving the best for last. ;-) (Uh, the sex?)

We find Carrie 5 years after season 6 finale, a bit more grown up style-wise. She dons pearls, and many more Charlotte-worthy sophisticated dresses than quirky dressed-to-the-nineties. However my favorite go-to accessory was this very teenaged-inspired studded belt - but oh she combined it with the previous for maximum wow!

Charlotte was the most gloriously Jackie-esque _blank_ - oops I can't give away the next 2 words!!

And Miranda and Samantha were more of their old selves, although Samantha added a couple of new "accessories" along her journey. (No, she never lost her breasts from Cancer and replaced them with larger implants, these are totally different accessories.)

And last, and sadly a bit least...

The Sex (Scenes) (And Nudity):

Miranda's, and a few random actress's breasts, Steve's butt, and one male's near-full nudity: including butt and semi-sidal (but it's big). = Worthwhile if you enjoy the full movie. Download just the skin videos if not or you're a guy, maybe. ;-)

To sum up the Review, if you think this is a movie you'd like to own, then you're the kinda gal or person I'd suggest to buy and own it. It's a pretty great movie!

Candy Coated Shoes are BACK!

April 14, 2008

I'm not a trend follower of late, but the announcement of this one excited me for a very important reason. Seeing the hot, neon, sparkly, etc. pumps on the show What Not to Wear started my love for shoes, which brought on this blog, which introduced me to handbags, and ultimately that led to my handbag line I'm finally ready to start!

But back to the blog for now, and well the shoes..

Reports say bright shoes are in for Spring. Fun! Cute, and definite excitement in your steps.

I'd like to go over some "hot" (pun intended, as per usual) choices in different categories ...

Manolo Blahnik Poppy Heels

February 01, 2008

What fun! How cheerful! In Nemain Marcus's Spring Preview for Manolo Blahnik shoes, are these pink poppy-printed Slingback Mary Janes with peep toes. I think the best feature of these, even with their powers of anti-depression, is the green top-stitching. High design meets indie funkiness? Love it!

With a high high heel, these shoes cost $675, and right now Neiman Marcus .com has an offer that gives a free Blahnik sketch book with a Manolo purchase over $650.

But really, you'll buy this shoe for the joy & jubilation!

Manolo Blahnik does Clear Heels

April 11, 2007

Manolo Blahnik Lucite Sandal

Usually the designer to stick with the most sophisticated shapes and styles even in the face of what's trendiest, Manolo Blahnik has now made shoes (shown here: his Lucite Sandal) with see-through plastic aspects.

I hate clear heels. But can Manolo Blahnik class them up? Or is this the designer sinking into sell-out-trendiness, while making bad shoes (although with probably better quality than others)?

Manolo Blahnik Cowbotta Boot - on Sale

February 28, 2007

Manolo Blahnik Cowbotta Boot

Manolo Blahnik made a western-style boot exclusively for Neiman Marcus .com, and now it's on sale for $525 from $1,050! With a more Manolo thinner high heel, the calfskin boot is tooled and detailed with western-influenced design. For cowgirls or just trendy fashionistas, the Cowbotta has several sizes left.

Dream Fashion for the "Ever After"

June 26, 2006

That macabre poet, Style Bard, asked what is surprisingly my very most favorite Carnivale of Couture question;

In what clothes and accessories would you like to be buried?

I actually have thought about this a bit before, and I have quite the approach to my decisions.

I want what I can't wear alive.

I want painful, painful, painful and fabulous shoes! High, high heels by who other but Manolo Blahnik (chosen for the fab factor, but let's face it, his shoes are no sneaks)! These 3 ½" high Mary Janes with rhinestone are perfect, no? And they really make for a classy ever after statement.

Manolo Blahnik Mary Jane

As for a dress, I want whatever will come along as my favorite throughout my years. But it will be what fits my perfect body. I will gain old age weight (after dropping my [late hit] "puberty" weight in time soon to come, natch) and surely shrink to below even 4'11". Either my body will be squushed in or we'll make it fit.

Everything else, diamonds, pearls ... I shall have my loved ones use some of my dearly parting money to ensure I have items I could not afford while living.

A bag? Moi? I'm not sure I can stand to see a handbag go in the ground with dirt and bugs. In fact, yes, I think I would like to be frozen ... in that Snow White coffin mentioned on Style Bard? Why, yes, thank you!

If life says I can't, then I must!
