Alice in Wonderland - inspiration, beauty, art, 'heart', fashion. A shopping spread.

March 18, 2010

Our budget for movie-going is very low, so I have not been able to catch onto "Alice" fever like most fashionistas, but when I saw this blue/red combo Melissa heart pumps, I was very inspired.

I knew this spread needed to be gorgeous and artful and I know I'm personally limited somehow on Polyvore.com set making, so I opened up Paint Shop Pro and went to work, old-school-style. (OK old-me style, for this is not low tech!)

I had to leave the top left corner blank, for I find it so beautiful. If you want to see the background image I made on its own, keep reading the post - but here's the shopping info!

Can Frugal Fatigue Perk Up the Economy? (Or Depress It?)

March 18, 2010

shopping_frugal-fatigue_break-piggy-bankWhat I'm hoping could pick up the economy is actually mild frugal fatigue, or spending bans turned into frugal spending, perhaps.

The consensus on the web seems to be that frugal fatigue is bad. This is the kind of spending change that goes from WalMart to Neimans, it seems.

But what about those of us who were on new clothes bans all together, and now shop places like Target? I think a little boost in spending from a lot of people is just what those government officials sometimes ask for.

Of course some of us are also very sick shopaholics, and we must be "stopped" - or something.

I say as long as people have truly learned their lessons on credit, and continue to intelligently practice them, we may be better off. And the extra debit swipes in stores, whether you believe that helps or not, "experts" have said it's something America needs.

There's at least one other website writer that shares my hope.

So I say just be careful if you're tired of using the scratchy toilet paper - don't take it to mean you're tired of less than $100 shoes.

What do you think?
