A new, interesting Chloé Edith is here again. Ahh, refreshing. With a medium-length thick shoulder strap with double buckles on each side, this tan leather bag features a true-buckled/magnetic flap closure a double buckled pouch pocket and a zippered pocket with oversized pull. It's all signature style. Measuring 10.5" x 10", this IT-variation
Mini Edith Satchel will throw itself over your shoulder if you've got $1190 for it.
Largely reminiscent of Hayden-Harnett's Mercer Clutch (I told you they were trend inspirers), this tote-ish bag by little known Corto Moltedo is also half strangely new. With a top rod/cut out - type handle and two side bottom pockets, plus loads of other doo-dads and design features, the bag's a little much to take. It's notable though, being a foldover convertible bag with attachable shoulder straps, plus it just looks so odd ... so what else does Moltedo have to offer anyway? Should we keep a look-out?
The Priscilla sells for $2080 on Net-a-Porter.
I've finally begun knitting and attempting sewing (the learning process is moving along), so I've actually been more into handmade and indie bags more than the leather designer IT bags. (Hey, I've already got my Chloés and Stam, after all.)

And you know what, even the independent crafty world offers larger-sized clutches for day time, whether the designers follow trends or not. I love the "Chef" shape, pretty flowers and overall quality (I ordered a similar bag) of the
Pleated Floral Clutch by
Microwave Girl on handcrafters storefront,
Etsy.com.
Measuring 16" x 9", this adorable purse is made from vintage upholstery fabric (!!) with a silk flower appliqué and even includes an interior pocket. Buy for only $55 right through Etsy, and you can pay with PayPal!
Recently I finally embarked on a dream and started sewing and teaching myself to knit, all for the hope of making accessories to sell -- really starting my dream of being a handbag designer -- and I became obsessed. One lucky side effect in my new craftiness is the discovery of the all-home-made indie mega online shop;
Etsy.com. It's sort of like the hand-crafted non-auction eBay, allowing individuals to add their own products to one big site.
One cool product, in the trendy category of belts, is the Crazy Stitch Belt by The Machine Stops. It's an original (although I ordered a similar belt, yes you can special order from most sellers/creators on Etsy) and definitely different from everything you usually see on the streets. Plus, you're supporting indie artists and giving your money to accessory makers that aren't big conglomerates for a change. There are so many reasons to shop indie, but you really don't need many when you fall in love with a piece. That's one bit of beauty about Etsy, there's something for everyone.
Watch out - it might just inspire you to create!
