Valentino meant romantic sophistication for Spring 2006 Couture. Most pieces were practical, yet utterly elegant and artistic. There was still the occasional required poofy shoulder, for good measure. The most feminine of professional skirt suits started the show, which segued into flirty summer dresses, with it ending in glamorous, red-carpet-worthy gowns. Valentino stuck with a definite theme, which to me means Garavani has an understanding of what his line is about (although there is the tacky emblem on the house's otherwise fabulous bags). And what that line is about is perfection to me; a gorgeous celebration of womanly ideals. The show was everything I need to see, and nothing was to miss.

Fashionista Jill poked out of her condo this morning in sheer black hose, thigh-high boots, and a winter white wool coat. And she felt the chill, and saw no sun.
It's 6 more weeks of:
-- Wearing out those fabulous boots, darn, I would hope for them to last another year.
-- Witnessing Uggs and other monstrosities.
-- Winter white! Before ... white completely takes over for Spring!
But it's also 6 more weeks of:
-- Solid diet and exercise time, we'll be that much thinner for swimsuit season! (Too bad we can't hibernate and burn all our fat by sleeping.)
-- Shopping around for the right shoes, and waiting to happen upon Mr. Dream Bag Spring 06.
-- Shopping. We get to be more prepared.
Unfortunately, it's 6 more weeks until:
-- Getting to wear those strappies, peep-toed flats, and wedges, especially espadrilles.
-- Getting real use out of resort collections--that silly excuse for a mid-season line.
-- Your Spring trench coat.
-- Vacation: rest, relaxation, and our time to sleep!
