ShangriLaw asks, "if you were stranded at a life-long party on the 'Island of Superfantasticness,' what would be the fashion items you simply cannot live without?"
A lifelong party on a beautiful island, with my fellow fashion bloggers, and all the power and amenities of luxury, I assume?
This actually has an important, basic question of life, in there. If I were limited, in a limited situation, what apparel items would I need? I would mix the basic with the luxe, to create a wardrobe I could live with.
This can get "blah, blah," but read on, it has tips and insight into my *devilish* shopping mind, as well as picking up for something special at the end!

-- First of all, I need a jean; I'll need a couple of good jeans--dream jeans, by my favorite: Antik Denim. We're shopping at eLUXURY
, today! The Bootcut Jean, Light Wash
is the standard Antik, and its lighter color is good for my petite height. And the Joplin Jean, Dark Indigo Wash
has a black wash that is dressier and perfect for "the party." In addition to the designer pairs, I'd take a lot of my "signature" "L" jeans from The Limited. (All jeans perfectly hemmed between 27" and 29" insteams for different shoes, by the way.)
-- This means I'll need a few great tops. This time, we're heading to Nordstrom. I picked out four, so let's just call them by numbers, and you can check out the website: 1: is a long-sleeved top with flattering deep-v neckline and ruched tummy. 2: is a basic white blouse with a ruched front. 3: is an alternative to babydoll with a natural waistline, and ruching above. 4: is a Victorian lace top. Whew!
-- Now, I need to cover up with sweaters and jackets. Cardigans: 1 and 2. Jackets: Denim (& embroidered), a ruffly-feminine take on the military jacket trend, and off to Macy's; a brocade blazer.
-- Leather jacket: Off to Wilson's Leather for a
tan feminine-gather-detailed leather blazer.
-- Of course, for the party, I need the perfect dress. I'd probably need to have this altered (non-petite), but it is the loveliest, and most perfect for moi: "The Black Dress" from Anthropologie.
-- I must be comfy, sometimes, as a blog-for-jobber, don't I? I also must be able to sleep, and trust me, I prefer some beauty sleep to all-night partying. For this occasion, I will go for the higher end of loungewear, the Juicy Couture tracksuit, with the Velour Track Jacket
and Velour Drawstring Pant
, in the maroon-ish, Margeaux.
Boy, all of this inspires me to do shopping for real life.
Now, for the necessaries!
Of course, I need plenty of shoes. These are the proper basics:

And how could I live without my precious bag collection? Or at least a piece of it. With this fabulous party in the beautiful setting, I'll get to show off my more precious bags, as well as use my standard favorites, a lot.

I have my | Wilson's Leather bags | Liz Claiborne Leather Metallic Croc-Embossed Pocket Satchel | COACH Chelsea Bouclé Demi | COACH Python Stripe Signature Medium Carryall | Christian Dior classic black signature Saddle Bag | My Brighton school tote (who knows) | And a plethora of clutches, wristlets & wallets ...
Then there are some things I wouldn't buy now, but could spend a savings on ... Marc by Marc Jacobs, Rebecca Taylor and Nanette Lepore Apparel, and more designer bags and designer shoes! Oh, designer shoes!
Now, though really, I'd have to decline the offer to embark on this trip that would strand me forever away from the comforts of home, the love of friends, and malls and Internet-mail ordering. My life may not be as extravagant as a lifelong party seems to be, but it's pretty fabulous to my heart. Yes, my true life is the "fashionable" necessity I can't bear to part with.
