Didn't DIY: Men's Knit Tie from J. Crew

February 13, 2009

Tipped thin-stripe skinny knit tie

$49.50 at J.Crew

Expertly hand-finished Italian silk knit. 2" at widest point. Contrast color at tie tip and neck piece: red on classic navy, dark purple on black. Made in Italy.

---

A knit tie, eh? One would think this is something to be made by one's self or bought from www.etsy.com, but J. Crew really has the only truly-tie-like and more detailed finished items for sale. Hmm. So ... spend on retail, mass-produced, make it one's self (barely a pattern needed!) ... or buy one from a handmade artisan, no matter the look?

In this week of new designs - what's your opinion?

For Women Who Love Shoes & Luurrrve Chocolate

February 13, 2009

A truly delectable Valentine's Day tie-in---Nine West is offering a promotion, oh of some sort or another, but it's the artistic photograph that I care about. A pump dripping in drool-worthy chocolate. Mmmmmmmm.

Perhaps a hint to the men, get your woman both. High style and high calories?

Oh, women, also check out that Nine West deal. And hey, maybe there's some gift option/idea in it!

I'm off for some sweet treat of a breakfast, methinks. ;-)

Guys AND Gals: VDay DO To Do: Strip Chocolate

February 08, 2009

Here's an activity (and possible piece of a gift/gift for a guy) totally fun for both chicks and dudes late next Saturday; Valentine's Night. Way more important (to men) than V-Day, by the way. Play a sexy, strippy game leading on to your big finale. And what better game than one involving sweet, sweet chocolate with your sweet? "Strip Chocolate" is a couple's board game which forces off an item of clothing each losing play, with the added bonus of chocolate and cherry body frosting. The sweet and delectable flavors puts a little romance back into the slow strip tease of sexual fun. Besides, what if you win and he gets nekked first? ;-)

Word of warning: don't get a girlfriend something sexy for a gift unless it's only a small part. Oh and load up on at least one chick-filled (but with you by her side) entirely romantic activity, before all the sex. (And if you mess up gifting in a bad way, you may even lose out on makeup sex. Ouch. Not on the night of kink--I mean love.) I do doubt the dudes would mind super sexually-charged presents though.

Strip Chocolate, the game, is sold by unCommon Goods for $30. (Pretty recession safe portion of a date/gift, though note the candy part of the game can get used up.)

Poll: It's 'Nice' to Be Honest... about Your Greed

December 19, 2008

Whatever you deserve or your loved ones can afford, you must be wishing for something this holiday season. (Whether it's someone, a saved world, cash or a designer bag from Santa's sack.)

Now this poll's anonymous, so be perfectly honest about what thoughtful gifts you hopefully receive you wish would count in the monetary sense.

If there's no answer that sums up your truly nice and generous wishes, leave a comment with your "other".

Trend: 2008's Sweater Boots Inspired by Crafts

December 15, 2008

gift-tagThis year's sweater boots, even the Uggs (one pair below), are less ug' - at least to me - because they're inspired by a huge craft trend. The mini scarf secured by cute/simple/large/any buttons.

One thing some of you Ugg haters won't mind is that these boots are shearling and animal-cruelty free, as far as we can tell.

And don't they just look cozier to the eye?

Indie-Inspired Trend: Warm Woollen Slippers

December 09, 2008

gift-tagKnitted bags are somehow not around the mainstream shops this season, instead, it's slippers. I wish it were shoes, but ah, no. Not this year anyway, though trends tend to evolve each year - something to look forward to. But winter 'tis the season for cozying our toes, anyway. Let the flats come back in Spring, after all!

Juicy Couture - on sale for $46

Shopping: Obama Holiday Mug lacks.. Holiday

December 09, 2008

Is black the new red & green, too?

gift-tag

I get e-mail updates from "the Obama camp" and apparently they're still sending me stuff even now. That's fine and all, and nevermind my e-mail hatred - this one was interesting. They're promoting a limited edition mug as the "Obama Holiday Mug" - thing is, it lacks any sign of any holiday whatsoever.

In fact, it's just black & simple and oozes deathly ominous vibes, not celebratory ones, which means I don't even think it's truly geared toward Obama fans honoring the president elect. It doesn't even seem suited for Martin Luther King day, let alone much but a funeral, therefore, and seems to only say that on Christmas morn', we'll still have Bush behind that huge White House lawn.

Come on, there could have been a tree - fair to both Christians and Pagans (the original reasoners of the season). But I suppose a tree does not "say" "Bush"?

The 8 (Self) Gifts of Hanukkah:Miracle of Purse Brite

December 07, 2007

If you don't already have a system to organize your handbags, especially if you switch them out often, you might need the miracle of the Purse Brite. To many of you I ask, why haven't you tried one already?

Purse Brite

This purse organizer has several pockets to keep your junk neat in your bags, but it also comes with a little light, which can be turned on to give a little boost to those with tall bags or if you constantly lose belongings and fight to find them in your cave-like purse.

Unfortunately, the regular Purse Brite is too large for small and even some medium-sized handbags.

And please, ignore the hideous bags on the website. Ugh!

The 8 (Self) Gifts of Hanukkah:Night 1 - Coach Key Fobs

December 05, 2007

COACH Holiday Keyfobs

For you Jewish fabulistas, after you switch on your electric menorahs and eat your candy "present", you'll probably be left craving more. Why don't you treat yourself?!

So... "On the 1st Night of Hanukkuh, I Gift to Myself..."

Hanukkah gifts are known for being small, but that doesn't mean they have to be piddly!

The first small, yet totally fab gift for the first night of Hanukkah (although a little late in the evening), should be from COACH - and what's small from Coach? Key Fobs, of course! The company even produces two ring styles that are totally Festival of Lights Friendly.

First, we have a blue snowflake key ring. Perfect! Next, we have the long-lasting, fashion equivalent of chocolate coins. I make no statements and follow no beliefs on why chocolate coins are a part of Jewish tradition, but I still say, why get a gift you eat away, when a girl can receive a brass and leather goodie for her purse!

Coach Snowflake Keyfob - $28. Chainlink Coins Keyfob (which represents the brand's symbols, not currency) - $98.

Those may not be your personal faves, so here are more key rings from www.coach.com.
