A woman should be two things; classy & fabulous - Mlle Gabrielle Chanel

Upcoming: Chanel's "Coco Cocoon" Handbag Line - Gallery

August 04, 2009

We've gathered allllll the photos fit-to-print that we could of the new Chanel purse collection, "Coco Cocoon" coming out in October. That's October 10th 2009, precisely. It's the same line as featured in the Lily Allen advertisements, but we've posted her pictures in another gallery.

Enjoy!

Chanel, or Karl Largerfeld, Cleaned Up Lily Allen

July 31, 2009

Karl can put Chanel on Lily Allen, but can we really put Lily Allen in Chanel, if you know what I mean? What I mean is, could this makeover stick on the girl who refuses to not sunbathe topless what-seems daily in her classless crusade nearing as bad as Amy Winehouse?

That is why Lily Allen as a model for Chanel surprises me. Yes, Lily is a huge Chanel fan, uh--so are witless teenagers. The difference is this recording artist has money, and those teens aren't truly carrying Chanel with their pink cambon totes.

So what I mean is anyone can be a fan, but that doesn't mean The Man will "fan" back. The singer makes a cute model of some sort---Allen is quite beautiful and a great writer with a great mind, but ... girl needs work.

Or - usually. One couldn't tell from these amazing photographs.

Here Allen advertises and sports Chanel's upcoming handbag collection, "Coco Cocoon" due this October 10th (2009).

Stay tuned for a gallery devoted to the bags next week!

A Soft & Fluffier Side: Visual Poetry: Chanel

July 27, 2009

Mixing so many wonderful lovelies of the girl world. Softness, florals, pink, & a crafty look/feel with knits.

When I was writing about the sizing "scandal" I see over Lara Stone's sensationalized popularity - I couldn't help but calm down viewing this shot of Stone in Chanel. (In our W Magazine / Lara Stone gallery.)

There's also more on the softer side in another of Stone's differences. Forget a size six amongst a 00 world, Lara's natural blondness is showcasing other alternative beauty aspects. It's not that she has no eyebrows, but like a few other women, she has very pale hair, even there. Now these girls have their own model mirror, which is always beautiful.

We may laugh and poke at other famous people ditching their brows on purpose - but Lara is just natural - even in her near-skintone eyebrows. So girls who grew up anxious over this different feature of their own, there may be a separate calm for them amongst the buzz.

"Great" Price in Recent History: The World's Most Expensive Bag

February 07, 2009

Cited just over a year ago, for who knows if prices for bags have hit a new low/high record... (We were going to start a blog like this then but had things get in the way. To q paraphrase my own writing...)

most-07_chanel-diamond-forever-flap-bag

One might hardly believe this purse is real, but the Chanel classic flap is done in white alligator, white gold and diamonds and was out for holidays 2007 (back before luxury was so tacky), waiting to sit under the tree of the 13 luckiest and possibly most “loved” women in the world—at $260,150 a bag.

Welcome to this new site. We do not endorse these expensive bags here. Personally I’m sick of this sh*t and I’m ready to give a big F you to these companies.

Although I do dream about owning a Birkin bag someday. And I hate myself for it. It’s completely ridiculous to spend upwards of $6,000 on an accessory. Sure, spending $12,000 on 12 really nice handbags seems okay to me, spread out a bit maybe. (Probably not in 2008 or 2009, too.) But I’m crazy for bags. Hey I’m a woman. I also have a brain though! (Sometimes.)

Chanel Metallic Cutout-Logo Flap

April 17, 2008

Wa-wa-woo! This ritzy Chanel bag is super fab, no? The Crackled Metallic Calfskin Flap Bag with cut-out signature appears to double as a clutch, making it a great party bag. Of course, who goes to such fab parties? Oh well! At least Chanel is playing up the clutch trend, which is huge I'm feeling, bigger than last year even - and that makes this bag even more fun to fancy. I can only imagine its ritzy price, but you should contact Chanel if you more than fancy. Unfortunately its a brand not-too Internet friendly, even if their photography sure is.

Fly Past the Blues with this fun Denim Chanel

February 01, 2008
There aren't more fabulous bags than the more colorful or textured Chanel purses to make a girl happy this dreary winter. This resort season, the funkiest bag is this Sequined Denim Flap Purse. It features little bows of striped denim with large white sequins fluttering about the otherwise classic flap bag, complete with chain strap.

Paris Hilton with Chanel Flower Flap as Clutch

April 11, 2007

You've got to love that Paris Hilton loves the paparazzi's attention. "Why on Earth must we love that, Elle?" - you ask? Why, because this gives her designer freebies, like Chanel bags. Alright, alright, it's plenty of reason for us bag desirers to hate Paris.

BUT here is Ms. Hilton perfectly posing to show us a great, clear shot of an amazingly gorgeous Chanel bag. And you know what - I believe that's reason to love the egotist in the socialite.

So thanks Paris! Ahh to be born into wealth and fame ... sigh.

As you can see from the mini photo inside the large, the bag's not really a clutch, but a flap with the strap removed. That is a great idea! Imagine, a jumbo sized Chanel flap could be ... a day clutch! Faaabulous! *Dreams off into Elle's happy place*.

Bagosphere Buzz - I like your bags!

March 26, 2007

Iiiii'm siiiiick! I come home from vacation for this to set in on me. I never get sick, and this is sick like I've never been (not the worst though, but certainly different). What a good day to start this feature up again, because I'm not sure how much original brain power I have in me. Oiiii.

Get your own bagPictured is the "Get Your Own Bag" message canvas tote. It's simple, filled with attitude and I also see loads of irony in it. A shapeless cartooned tote bag conveying envy and pride over a bag---what bag?---even the mini bag pictured is not "cute". I believe it must be made with rightful intention, making fun of bag lovers. Still, it's notable. Find purchase info (for the uncensored version too) at The Purse Blog.

Introduce yourselves to Eco-Bag, an online shop for bags designed by indies that are all recycled materials. The once soda bottle, once seat belt buckle, and once ... boat sail? Yep, all hand made and all environmentally friendly. Shop via In My Bag.

Love that luxury trash bag style of the Coco Cabas, but for a well, still more expensive than trash pricetag? The Chapman Large Slouch Hobo by Charles David is a brandy copycat of Chanel's bag. For less the money, but it's not like you like the Chanel aside from its logo anyway! Via Seora Cartera (Mrs. Handbag).

Model Lily Cole designed a line of bags for Monsoon Accessories, EBelle5 featured a rainbow striped small purse.

Ooh, an umbrella case! What a nice change of pace. In cute rainbowed stars, the umbrella with case from Top Shop costs 12 pounds, and is only available in stores in the UK. Boo hoo, this sick girl is crying! Via The Bag Lady.

And finally, this doesn't have to do with bags, but when I saw this billboard last week, I thought it would be perfect about for Counterfeit Chic to write. It's Coke's new billboards for Coca Cola Zero, like, "tastes so much like Coke, we should sue ourselves". Funny?

Visit these great blogs, and we'll see you around.

The Newest, Hugest Bag - from Chanel

March 19, 2007

This tote is from Chanel's new Paris Biarritz collection for SS 2007. Wow!

Chanel Paris Biarritz Large Croc Tote

If all my body fat were removed (please god) all my extra matter would easily fit in here.
My whole torso would fit in here.
Both of my legs would fit in here.
My paddington collection could fit in here.
A weekend's worth of clothing could fit in here.

You get the drill, but ...

It wouldn't fit in ...

On my lap,
Just barely on a car seat,
On a shelf or hook or in my closet.

Oh boy.

Ode to Mary-Kate's Jumbo Chanel Flap

February 27, 2007

Mary-Kate Olsen recently wrote in to the New York Times raving about her favorite purse.

"Timeless"
Brand Loyalty
by Mary-Kate Olsen

I have a large, red quilted Chanel bag that I borrowed from my sister, Ashley. I wore it to an event and never gave it back. Luckily, she's moved on to another bag, so I'm safe for now. I'm not quite sure how many bags I have, but let's just say I have a few. When I find a bag I like, I tend to wear it to death until I become obsessed with another one. This probably happens three to five times a year. But I always come back to the Chanel. The size isn't overwhelming, and it has enough subtle detail to keep it interesting. I also have the smaller version in blue and in white, but the red is definitely my favorite. I don't have a stylist - I'd rather just do my own thing and put together my own outfits. The chain-handle bag is the perfect accent to almost any combination I come up with. I look at everything with a designer's eye, but I wouldn't change a thing about this bag. I think that's why it's a true classic."

Ooh, I just love the size of the bag, but unfortunately it appears to me the straps grew in length with the size. I'm just not sure what to be dreaming for in a Chanel.
