Thoughts of the Moment on Loss & Shopping + Fendi

January 13, 2011

Fendi Nude ankle strap logo sandals

In the past when tragedies, like this recent shooting, have happened I've felt that fashion is too trivial to care so much about on a multi-times-per-day scale. Right now though, I'm posting this after a hiatus relating to personal career woes and worry about overspending. I shed tears for these victims and here I am pondering style.

I recently don't care if I have cash to spend - is this a positive effect from a highly negative event? I don't know. I still fret that blogging will make me desire too much.

I can't make sense of the hate in the world, just like no one can. I really can't tie it in to fashion either, except I must remember that I try to tie in the deepness in my brain back into a fashion blog.

I can't help but think of what John Stewart said this Monday (after the shooting). Things like, "how do you make sense of these types of senseless situations?" Plus things like, "I refuse to give in to that feeling of despair"...

I'm reminded of the at-first-seemingly prick-like mantra that "life goes on". When we are first grieving that sounds like a careless mentality, but it is just both a sad and positive truth. It does not mean that we throw away our love and sorrow, but it is a reflection on how not only life beside us goes on but that eventually we will smile and later find joy again, even though we will always love and care for the gone, or respect tragedies, but that life and grief can coexist. It must for our survival.

We will shop again. Art is a part of life, accessories are sometimes, or seemingly, needed. We must not feel bad for desiring to be stylish. No more so after loss than during triumph.

Never hate yourself because you are beautiful.

Ends are sometimes rough, and is there a perfect way to end a post such as this?

No, but I now want to try to quickly touch upon, after I spoke of why I've been absent, where I've been and will continue to be. I can't promise daily posts now, although I want to try to frequent my blog again. I do know I'm already depressed that I cannot afford these lust-worthy excesses. I can though promise ramblings about my life and fashionable links on my personal Facebook account. It might interest you to friend me in order to follow me. I welcome you (just please mention my blog). My account is: facebook.com/designerella.

Fabulous, yet sensible shoes? Great! Let me wait a year to see if  they make the outlets - yeah right. ;-)

Celeb What Not to Wear: Diamond Costume

March 09, 2009

Apparently, Diamonds are Paris Hilton's new Best Friend Forever.

But they appear to be just another frienemy, not doing her any justice.

Post this to your *don't board* and remember: keep it classy & less flashy.

And don't have multiple birthday parties a year (which number one is this?).

The socialite even manages to downgrade her Fendi baguette by association. Le Sigh.

..& Then Fendi Succeeds with that Crafty Look

April 17, 2008

Fendi Rainbow Clutch

Here is an adorable clutch by Fendi with that hand-crafty look, done very well this time. Every grey cloud must have a silver lining, or at least so when it comes to good designers. I like to refer to this bag as their Embellished Rainbow after the Storm Clutch. 3D and complete with beads, this funky purse is obviously very Big Name, and not to be found at your local craft fair, with its signature F buckle and $6,280 pricetag. Contact the company or your local boutique to purchase.

This is still not all from Fendi, as they're celebrating a very big month. Stay tuned.

Fendi Attempts that Handmade Look - and Fails

April 15, 2008

This bag looks like it started out with trends from the indie scene. First the designers layered cutout circles atop each other, then added beads. Then the designers moved on from today's looks, with the most popular of ancient handcrafters' marks, the Native Americans' "feathers", embroidery and thick stitches.

Unfortunately instead of hip and/or homey, the bag looks more like a trashy "professional" in a barely-there fringy skirt complete with diseased boils.

Instead of made with love this $2680 monstrosity is made with extra fug.

Best Blogged Bags this Holiday Week

November 25, 2007

Perhaps a good blogger should cover more than she can cover, to really cover as much as she can - or can't? Anyway, I'm bringing back (after I've just come back) weekly bagopshere posts. But I'm trying to expand into bag-related posts from non-bag blogs, too. Tough! I also would love to discover new bag blogs (I've receieved some recently and I'm late on adding your wonderful links). Anyway, if you have a post you'd like to suggest - comment us!

  • Apparently this Fendi bag ate the wrong part of a turkey this Thanksgiving (and the meal didn't agree with it) - or, well, what would purses eat anyway? Anyhoo! I don't enjoy animal cruelty symbols for my heartwarming meets feast (and mashed potatoes) holiday, but I do enjoy giggling at this fab but overcooked purse! --InMyBag

  • Plum plaid/croc framed satchel by River Island -- you see this is a handbag I would never find to post, especially since it's from the UK! But gosh, I kind of fancy it! --TheBagLady

  • The Addict's Mantra: The Logo is Not Who You Are --TheRunwayScoop

  • The dream find = Vintage Dior Bag for ... $8 --- leads to the TOUGHEST question of all = is it or is it not---real? (I hope it is, and oh! It makes me want the perfect vintage Dior-at any price!) -- Help a girl out over at StyleBytes. (The post is older, but the bag was featured recently in an ensemble.)

  • And finally... Of course one must feature a post with one of the fabbest bags in the world, but only in a bagosphere recap when - alas - it is the rare pipe dream of a 30cm Blue Jean Hermés Birkin that is not my own, nor for sale. Whose is it? Megs. I can only dream on my little blogger's pay, but I'm happy to stay the blogger anyway (and hope to grow, at least)! For the rest of those like I, let us ogle these really well-taken photographs! --ThePurseBlog

30cm Blue Jean Hermes Birkin

Today we sum up this holiday week in bag blogging, turkey and graciousness (not to mention a more Christmas-themed than Thanksgiving parade, as usual). Luckily, the graciousness might just continue on the Internet--if we all try hard, we may still have those mashed potatoes whenever we're able to peel the spuds, we still have all that we give thanks for, and at least hopefully the turkeys are a little bit safer, for now.

At least when it comes to eating them.

No, we must worry more about the cows. Back to life!

And now for Dazzle - Fendi Sequin Spy

October 23, 2007

Fendi Sequin Zucca Spy Bag

Wee-woo wee-woo! What can I say, but just make adoring noises about this gorgeous bag?!

It's a fabulous, chocolate-trimmed Spy bag in Zucca logo fabric well hidden for a subtle effect under luxe sequins.

This Fendi Spy costs $5,490. *Moans & groans*

Fendi Crossword Clutch

February 23, 2007
Fendi Crossword ClutchContinuing with their style of a very geometric logo print, is the design on Fendi's Crossword Clutch. In a word: "smart". With cleverly laid out "tiles" or strips of silver letters on white leather, which spell Fendi in a perfect rectangular "U", this bag has name appeal and is attractive "to bag". Complete with a silver metallic handle with "Fs"on each side, appearing similar to their Zucca logo, the clutch is sized 12" across x 6" down. This pieced together bag doesn't have too steep an expense, yet it's not being given away in a game! It's $920 at Neiman Marcus.

B. Fendi Zucca Hobo Bag

January 17, 2007
B. Fendi Zucca HoboThe newest B. Fendi bag is a hobo with one buckle, sort of simple, but bold and nice. The B. Fendi Zucca Hobo comes with large-logo, Zucca, printed canvas, antiqued brass logo hardware, leather shoulder strap with chain links, interior slip pocket and cell phone pocket. This not-so high maintenance bag's oversized leather buckle hides a snap and flaps over a zippered closing. $1040.00 comes in a medium 12" x 9.5" x 5.5" at eLUXURY.com.

Top 5 Bags of 2006 #3 - B. Fendi

January 03, 2007

B. Fendi Lace and Embroidered Medium Shoulder Bag ToteB. Fendis! B. Fendis! These bags were so prevalent in stores and on people's wish lists this year. One of the bags of 2006, for sure. The style debuted in the year, and one of the very first to come out, and the first to make most magazines, was the B. Fendi Lace & Embroidery Shoulder Bag. It's still being sold now - plus it's on sale! $3,633 from $5,190! Sure, the bag is a busy B., and there might be others you prefer (I actually do) but one has to admit, this bag buzzes luxury.

For sure, the B. Fendi line will be huge in 2007, but what's next for designs? Check back to Pursed Lips soon for the very next style out!
