Barbie has been designed a suite in her honor at a major luxury hotel. In Vegas. She now has a pink-decked suite at The Palms.
Her blog entry announcing this basically told the kids that their favorite doll has been partying it up in the city (shopping for miniatures?, drinking thimbles of cosmos?), even hinted at gambling. Fun for the whole family, eh?
"Aaah…the thrills of Las Vegas night life – after a long day I’m ready to bet on pink!"
The doll for little girls and collectors invites (through the blog) her fans to have ... bachelorette parties??? in her suite. OK, sure, for all those child brides, huh?
What's also silly is the suite has a huge closet. Who can lug that big of a wardrobe on vacation, let alone afford it? I mean, is this suite especially for those with private jets, because one can't really pack that much on a commercial airline.
Michelle Obama in London wearing an ensemble from J. Crew. Blog spotlights helped to make the skirt and cardigan sell out from stores and online, and once again, talk is that our First Lady mixes “low-end” pieces with designers and higher prices.
Pursed Lips's viewpoint:
J. Crew, with sweaters at $300, is not "low" end. We'll give it "mid" end, but aren't these COACH et al prices? J. Crew is one of those very quality brands with pricetags that reflect that "nameless", "status"- and "glamour"- image. It's what pricing should be - on its merits.
Therefore it is sort of like "as good" as designer, but without the same flash and cost. However I remember it was a big deal for me to purchase very nice earmuffs, after saving and when almost sold out, before the recession. We're not sure why our near-depression hasn't changed society's view on price points. We'd say Wal-Mart is low end, and would allow J. Crew to be mid-range.
This luxe-life view gets our thumbs way down,
especially in such a big recession.
Jet Blue is taking advantage of the economic crisis creating the buzz around CEO's use of private jets in such a time, by promoting their luxe travel amenities on a budget. According to Jet Blue, it would seem their flights would cater well to all income levels, but the reality is this is really still for the middle class, well, those who are still middle or upper middle class, anyway.
Israeli model Bar Refaeli holds the 2009 cover of Sports Illustrated (SI) swimsuit issue, as she unveils SI One, a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700 SI...
Swimsuit supermodel, Bar Refaeli, may be a super hottie, gracing this year's cover of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit issue, itself - but in my book she is a definite nottie with this move. I mean come on, is she really flying so high as to get a jet plane designed in her image? Is she a goddess or something? What's the deal?
It's so disgusting. And I hope there are no geese who are attracted to women or ... we could have more accidents.
