Take off? :-) I'm not saying I feel totally free to take the long Thanksgiving weekend away from trying to propel the blog, no. But I don't have to blog about deals, squeals, headaches; more importantly I don't *need* to write about less intellectual topics if I don't want to.

Freedommmm! Haha.
I used to pressure myself into writing gift guides, sale notices, etc. I'd fall behind trying to do. it. all. One blog can never post alllll of the news from just one writer. I now let it go. (Freedom again.)
What the recession has helped me realize is there can be a separate world of fashion from buying and other shallow occupations that are equally or more valid for post topics. I not only cannot shop much right now, but I realized I didn't ever really want to have a shopping-centric blog in the first place. (OK except for that first month when I just wanted to post pretty shoe pics.)
I love design, obviously. I love fashion and gosh I love shopping when I can ... but I'm an intellectual and a serious writer - I should have a narrow focus that I'm happier working in.
And I am very happy with the new direction of the blog. It can happily live side-by-side with my prepping my business.
Blogs with different angles fare better anyway.
Hallelujah.
